Into the Wilds: XC Ski or Snowshoe

Experience the wonders of open fields of snow and the solitude of wild places in Yellowstone. Cross country ski or snowshoe through untracked meadows, along frozen streams, and gently rolling hills.  You and your guide will select the perfect adventure for you and your family.  Half day and full day tours available.  Your guide will meet you at your lodging with equipment, snacks, lunch (full day only) and fun included!

XC Ski or Snowshoe

Your guide will work with you to determine which adventure best for you. Together, you will decide what you want to see, how far you want to go, and how challenging you would like your adventure to be.  Learn about wildlife habitats, forest and winter ecology, and how winter snowpack and meandering rivers in Yellowstone impact everyone downstream, from Montana to Louisiana.

◉    Snow Bunny

Explore the river bottoms and wide open meadows within Yellowstone’s grand, real life snow globe! These areas teem with wildlife, who leave evidence of their presence. Moose tracks, wolf scat, and pillows of sparkling snow abound. Learn winter survival skills, like building snow shelters (aka forts!) in the serenity of Yellowstone. Ideal for families with young children, and those who want to explore at a leisurely pace, and learn about Yellowstone's Winter Wonderland.

Have you ever wondered why this area is called ‘Big Sky Country’? See for yourself in this adventure! Explore the wide open spaces, in fields of sparkling snow. Journey up to higher elevations to get a sprawling view of Yellowstone’s backcountry and search for wildlife. This adventure is ideal for people who want to explore and add a little more challenge. ​XC Ski or Snowshoe

◆   Powder Hound

Feeling energetic and adventurous? Want faceshots, in untracked, fresh powder in Yellowstone’s backcountry? This is the adventure for you! You may climb 2,000 - 4,000 feet in this adventure, and cover 3-6 miles for the half day and 6-12 miles for the full day adventure. Summit a pass and see the sprawling wilderness beyond (and maybe some big wildlife!). This adventure is ideal for people who want a more advanced and rigorous adventure. ​XC Ski recommended

Half Day

• Expect to go 3 - 6 miles
• Adventures last ~4 hours
• Wear waterproof, insulated, sturdy footwear
• ​Bring a day pack, water, and layers
• Weather can change quickly, be prepared for snow and wind 
• Choose from: ​Morning 8am - 12pm, Afternoon 1 - 5pm, Full Moon 6:30 - 10pm

Full Day

• Expect to go 6 - 12 miles
• Adventures last ~8 hours
• Wear waterproof, insulated, sturdy footwear
• ​Bring a day pack, water, and layers
• Lunch is included
• Weather can change quickly, be prepared for snow and wind
• Adventures depart at 8am and return ~4pm
